Abstract

The article is devoted to the studying the one of the most complex branches of the modern economy from the point of view of the socio-economic situation in the world. The article reveals the theoretical and methodological principles and regulatory framework for regulating tourism activities in Russia and substantiates the need to establish strategic priorities in the management of this industry, including at the regional level. The authors conduct a detailed analysis of the competitive advantages and problematic aspects of the tourism sector of Lipetsk region, suggest ways to improve the activities of public administration bodies for the tourism development in the region. It is proved that the tourism development is one of the promising tasks in the activities of regional authorities at the present stage. The necessity of accelerating the pace of socio-economic development of the region is justified, which requires the elaborating not only traditional, but also new strategic directions, among which the development and functioning of the tourism industry is an absolute priority. The study reveals the problems and difficulties for the development of tourism activities in the region in the context of globalization, which requires their new approaches to actively promote the strategic goals of sustainable growth of domestic and inbound tourism. In order to improve the quality of tourist products and popularize traditional and event-based types of tourism in Lipetsk region, such directions are proposed as the formulation of the concept of a single branding of tourist products in Lipetsk region within the framework of the strategic program for tourism development; the creation of the one information field based on the website of the Department of Culture and Tourism of Lipetsk Region to highlight investment projects in the tourism sector, as well as the developing the strategy in this area for the medium term until 2030. The results of the proposed measures should be reflected in increasing the tourist attractiveness of Lipetsk region and the filling capacity of the regional budget.
